Spirulina

Spirulina is a type of blue green algae that is said to be the most nutrition dense foods out there! I contains pretty much every nutrient that we need including protein, copper, iron, and vitamins B1, B2, and B3. It has high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, that will keep you strong and healthy! Spirulinaa can also help with environmental allergies like pollen, dust, and animal hair. If all that wasn’t enough, it also helps to detox heavy metals from your system, and can help promote the growth of healthy bacterial flora in the intestines which aids with leaky gut and candida!

I usually mix it with some juice, put it in my smoothie or cold pressed juice, and even in salad dressing! It is also available in a tablet form, making it more convenient!

Maca powder

The main reason I love maca powder is for hormonal health. Although it is useful for both men and women, mama can help with women’s menstrual issues, mood swings, hot flashes, etc. It is known to increase fertility and libido as well. Maca can increase your energy levels and is rich in vitamins: B, C, and E; minerals: calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and zinc; and amino acids!

I add maca to my smoothies, cold pressed juices, and even lattes. I make a delicious Tumeric-Maca almond milk latte!

Lucuma powder

Lucuma powder is a powerful natural sweetener alternative with a caramel-maple flavor. It is a way to get a boost of B vitamins (esp the vegetarian and vegan friendly B3) and antioxidants. It is rich in fiber, beta-carotene, iron, protein and trace minerals! It has antibiotic, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties, giving it high immune system boosting capabilities.

I use it in all my baking, smoothies, and even in my lattes!

Chia Seeds

ChiaSeeds

Chia seeds are very versatile! They contain high amounts of fiber and quality protein. Chia seeds are very high in omega 3 fatty acids and also contain fat, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, zinc, vitamin B1,2,3, and potassium to name a few! Once in the stomach, the chia seeds absorb large amounts of water, and expand to 15 times their size, leaving you feeling full, reducing your appetite.

They are extremely easy to incorporate into your healthy diet by eating them raw or adding them to your porridges, oatmeals, puddings, baked goods, or even to your beverages! Sprinkle them on top of your yogurt, salad, veggies, or even brown rice!

Ground Flax Seed

Many vegan’s use ground flax as an egg substitute in baking, but there is so much more to flax seeds that a lot of people don’t know. They are surprisingly high in antioxidants (beating out blueberries for their high levels of polyphenol). They are also high in omega 3 fats, as well as vitamin B1, copper, fiber, magnesium, manganese, phosphorous, and selenium. Like chia seeds, they contain a water soluble fiber that makes a gel-like consistency, which is wonderful for your intestinal tract health!

As stated above, they are a great egg substitute, and are easily added to baked goods, smoothies, or eaten whole sprinkled over salads, vegetables, and meats or added nutritional value.

Hemp Seeds

Hemp seeds are a really easy addition to your smoothies, oatmeal, salads, vegetables, yogurt, and anything else you can thing of!

Bee Pollen

Bee pollen is another all star superfood! It is said to be one of the most nutritious foods out there containing 40% of protein which has more amino acids that of animal proteins. It is also high in B vitamins and folic acid. If that weren’t enough is also contains digestive enzymes, is an energy increaser, has anti-inflammatory properties, boosts the immune system, and stimulates ovarian function. Bee pollen also helps to strengthen blood vessels and capillaries, has high anti-clotting properties, and aids in circulation, making it a wonderful choice for cardiovascular health!

I like to take it in morning with some fruit, or I sprinkle it on my yogurt, oatmeal, or smoothies. When consumed with fruit, it allows the pollen to help cleanse the intestinal flora!

Turmeric

There is so much research around the benefits of turmeric and all it’s magical powers, but to sum up turmeric is said to work better than anti-inflammatory drugs, pain killers, anti-depressants, arthritis, diabetes, and cholesterol medications, and even chemotherapy! WOW! All this from an ancient natural spice!

In addition to utilizing turmeric like the spice that it is, I also use it in my dressings, lattes and even in my homemade face masks!

Aloe Vera

35-Wonderful-Benefits-Of-Aloe-Vera-Juice

I’m sure you have heard of topical aloe vera gel for your skin, but aloe vera juice/water can help heal you from the inside out. It has been know to be beneficial to heal the gut and esophagus lining, reduces acidity of the body helping to maintain a more alkaline state, and aids in digestion and constipation. Aloe is naturally hydrating and has vitamins A, B, C, E, as well as minerals like zinc, magnesium, potassium and folic acid which strengthen your immune system and will help balance your metabolism.

Aloe juice is something I like to take a swig of before bed to aid in the detoxification process that my body undergoes each night. It is not something I need to do every night, just when I feel like my body could use some extra help.
