Homemade All Natural Body Scrub

I love a good body scrub! It is a great way to stimulate circulation, new cell growth, and a glowing complexion for your entire body! It’s like having a spa-like experience in your own home, that will leave your skin silky smooth! The sugar exfoliates, while the coconut oil nourishes your skin! I am also a fan of DIY projects and all natural ingredient products! With all this in mind, I decided to concoct my own scrubs, and it couldn’t have been easier! My favorite part about this whole process was that I was able to pick exactly what I wanted in each scrub! No bad chemicals, dyes, sulfates, artificial fragrances, or harmful parabens here!

What you need to keep in mind when making your own scrub:

The ingredients will vary depending on what type of scrub you want. I chose to make a rose, lavender, and rosemary eucalyptus scented scrubs. Another thing to keep in mind is the consistency you like for your scrub. If you like it more liquid-like, use more coconut oil. If you like it a little more dry, use more sugar. I also chose to add some Rose Hip oil into my scrubs for its many great benefits: contributes to collagen production, contains Vitamin A, (which can help reduce the appearance of acne scares, fine lines, and hyper pigmentation) and also skin nourishing Vitamin C!
Heres what I did..
I found a box of half pint mason jars, essential oils of my choice, some coconut oil, and sugar. For my rose scented scrub, I took the petals off two large red roses from my garden, and spread them out across a cookie sheet to allow them to dry out for two days. Then I placed the 1 cup of petals in my small food processor, until they were ground.

Then in a medium size bowl, I combined 2 1/2 cups of sugar, rose petals, 3/4 cup of melted organic coconut oil, 1 tbsp of Rose Hip oil, and 3 tbsp of rose water.

The rose water and coconut smelt so lovely, and boy oh boy doesn’t it look beautiful! The rose water made the scrub slightly too runny for my liking, so I added a little more sugar until it was thicker. Then I simply spooned the scrub into three jars, and sealed the lid tight.

Next I did the same thing for the lavender scented scrub, but instead of rose petals I used 1/2 cup of dried lavender, 2 tbsp of lavender essential oil, and 1 tbsp Rose Hip oil.

Lastly, I made the rosemary eucalyptus scrub with 1/2 cup fresh rosemary that I also placed in the food processor, along with the 2 tbsp of eucalyptus essential oil, and 1 tbsp Rose Hip oil.

I decided to make these scrubs Valentine’s Day gifts for my friends, so I found some festive ribbon, and hot glued it to the lower rim of each jar top for added decoration.

Yes indeed! There are many body scrubs that we can buy in the market, but my favorite part is choosing my own ingredients. I would suggest home made products in order to avoid chemicals that is bad for the health.
