Easy Elegant Christmas Tablescape
Nothing makes me happier than the holidays! Family time, traditions, memories, great food, and of course the decorations! I get so excited to decorate my house with all my lights, ornaments, glittery trees, garland, and my collection of Santas that continues to grow each year! My tree and fire place are strictly in a winter wonderland color palette of white, gold, silver, and crystal, so I wanted to dress up my dinning room with the more traditional Christmas colors of red and green. With it being the holidays, I always like to make things a feel a little more special, so I went for an elegant -luxurious table with sparkle and nostalgia! The rich red, crystal, candle light elements, and homey plates made this Easy Elegant Christmas table come together in a matter of minutes!
The floral centerpieces were made out of two candle pillars I found on clearance at TJ Maxx, that I repurposed into vases to house my red hydrangea and red roses that were held in place with two blocks of floral foam. You don’t want your centerpiece to be to high, otherwise it will block your guests’ view of each other, making it difficult to carry on conversation.
I found the glittered fruit at my local Michael’s Craft Store. They were the perfect size and color palette for my table and added some extra pop in the center of the table.
For the place settings, I really wanted to focus on the beautiful plates! The vintage Santa themed salad plates were from Pottery Barn. I didn’t want to cover up these gorgeous pictures, so I draped my emerald green napkins under them. The luxurious plaid entree plates are from William Sonoma, which I had gotten on sale the previous year after the holidays! HUGE TIP! If you like something, but think it’s to expensive, wait till after the holidays are over and stores put everything on sale to get rid of the inventory! Some times they even go on sale super early, because the retail business is always early with their calendar of holiday turnover.
That is also how I got my adorable nutcracker name tag holders! They were on sale about a week before Christmas, and are actually suppose to be little taper holders. I enlisted the help of my husband for these little guys, ya know, so he could feel involved. 🙂 He cut pieces of wine bottle corks to fill in the hat of the nutcrackers, made a slit with a knife across the middle, and placed the name cards in the slit! Let’s just say he was very proud of his contribution!
Along with the special gold flatware that I borrowed from my mom, one of my last touches for each place setting was the beautiful beaded square chargers I found at Home Goods. They were the perfect pick, added some more texture and depth to each place setting.
Then came the crystal! I had some great depth of levels for my Christmas red candle tapers with the beautiful crystal holders I found at Michael’s Craft store, as well as the diamond shaped tea light holders. The two center candle sticks were a wedding gift. The red tapers were also found at Michael’s Craft Store. Be sure to purchase dripless tapers, otherwise you will have a mess to clean up once they start burning!
Once the candles were lit, and the lights were slightly dimmed, the whole table glowed! The warmth and luxury that beamed form the table really took my breath away!
