Spring Garden Inspired Tablescape

Who doesn’t love spring time? The smell of fresh flowers, beautiful pastel colors, and new life coming into the world. Where Alice in Wonderland meets The Secret Garden, this lovely Spring Garden Inspired Tablescape is perfect for Easter, Mother’s Day, a bridal shower, birthday, or even a spring brunch! In whichever way you want to employ it, this design will have your guests gushing in awe of it’s welcoming beauty. It may look elaborate, but it was so simple to assemble. All it took was a trip to my local Michaels Craft store and Homegoods and I had all I needed for this gorgeous table!

I wanted to keep a  natural-rustic-tea-party feeling to this design, so I went with a bare table exposing the wood, and used moss placemats instead of a tablecloth. I used a mixture of real and fake flowers to not only keep my cost down, but to also allow me to use this design again and again. I get a lot of my fake flowers at Michael’s. Michael’s has great deals and coupons every week. If you plan ahead, you never have to pay full price for something you want.

I was able to achieve depth and levels by putting floral painted teacups on top of moss covered cubes and small antique cake risers. It is important to remember when creating hight in a tables cape that you think about your guests, you want them to still be able to see each other across the table to have conversation without having to peer through your decor! I like to keep symmetry without being to matchy-matchy on each side of my table. This makes each seat at the table special from which ever vantage point your guests are sitting.  The center of my table was a lovely iron bicycle plant holder with a pale pink painted terra-cotta pot and fake peonies (all found at Michael’s). The peonies added a vibrant pop of color and texture to the table.

To create the pot, I used half a block of green craft foam inside the pot to keep the flowers in place and added three sprigs of white flowered twigs to add more hight and variety. I did not have to use foam blocks for the tea cups, because the ribbon tied around them was enough to hold the flowers in place. They came wrapped in ribbon when I purchased them from Homegoods. I liked the look of the ribbon and decided to keep it on the tea cups, which added extra security for the cups, and saved me time when assembling the flowers. A definite bonus!

I wanted to make each place setting special and inviting, while at the same time making sure that they complemented the center of the table very well.

The beautiful gold flatware was a Christmas present from my sister. They are the Hotel Collection found at Macy’s. I absolutely love how versatile this flatware is! It can be used for a formal dinner party or a casual gathering and complements almost every place setting. Their beautiful golden finish adds a special drama and sophistication to your table.

I also found beautiful pastel plates at Homegoods! I layered each table setting with color with the use of green and blue plates and a pop of orange polkadot napkins I found at Anthropology. I also found the colored glasses at Anthropology on sale! There wasn’t enough of one color, so I rotated the pink and the purple colors.

If you are looking for a party favor option for your gathering, you can tie a name tag to each teacup and perhaps add a teabag or a package of flower or vegetable seeds to the arrangement as a take home gift. You could also plant real succulents in the teacups, for your guests to enjoy when they leave. Either way, I’m sure they would be so happy and grateful to walk away with a memory from your lovely gathering.

The little touches like the butterflies, multicolored eggs, and floral votives brought everything together and gave this design a little extra sparkle!

I like to set my table well in advance so I can take my time assembling everything and don’t feel rushed and burnt out. It also allows me to live with and appreciate the results of all my hard work. The only thing I waited till the day before to do was add in the real floral arrangements so that they were fresh and open the day of my gathering.

Once I had all my supplies ready, this design took me around 20-30 mins to create. Not bad for how beautiful this table turned out! I hope you enjoy this Spring Garden Inspired Tablescape as much as my guests and I did! Please let me know if you have any comments or questions below!
