You’ve seen the hashtags all over social media. Millennial women are taking the #sidehustle and #girlboss hashtags to the bank, creating supplemental incomes creating financial security for themselves. By the looks of things, these creative side businesses are a wonderful way to network outside of your daily 9 to 5, and to expand on your bankable skills. The communities of women supporting women are growing. Perhaps it is because women still feel that men are the top dogs in their fields of business, and they crave that like-minded-women camaraderie. It is an opportunity to open doors to new people, new connections, and to learn something new. It is a wonderful way to create more revenue and meet personal goals. At the end of the day, money means more freedom and choices, which are extremely important for women! Women are capable of so much, and a side hustle allows them to develop and release their true potential. It’s the new norm among millennial women. If you don’t have a side hustle, perhaps it’s time you thought about getting one!

According to BBC, “A January 2016 report from the World Economic Forum predicts that five million jobs will be lost by 2020 in the 15 largest economies.” Now that’s scary! The sad fact of the matter is, even in 2017, we aren’t making big strides for women in the work place. The pay gap is still very present and women are still more vulnerable to corporate restructuring. And it gets worse as we age ladies! The sad truth that we still must tell our daughters is that even today, she can be smarter, preform better than a younger-inexperienced man, and she will still be paid 80 cents on every dollar he makes.

Enter the side hustle..

Women aren’t waiting for things to get better in the corporate office. They are taking ownership of their own lives and financial destiny, and kicking ass doing it. We all know women are natural multitasks, and as history will show again and again… women who are backed into a corner tend to get a little scrappy.

Many women are jumping into the game with various Multi-Level Marketing company opportunities.

Have you noticed that most of the moms you know these days have a side hustle they are workin?! But WHY? Why do so many of the women on your culdesac want to take on even more! Although some might be doing it as another form of income for their families, most of them will tell you: they just needed something of their own. Perhaps they are looking for a more flexible way to make money, or maybe a sense of community, achievement, or purpose outside of the home life. It could serve as a way to not only help pay off student loans, or to save up for that dream vacation, but to also place some time and energy towards another passion. To be a creative entrepreneur! Well that sounds fun! It may also be because the Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) business plan is just so damn convincing! Whatever the case may be, every woman on my street is peddling something different. Whether it’s clean make-up, non-toxic cleaning products, baby clothes, body wraps, or even bright patterned leggings, they’ve got you covered. You can’t just go over your neighbors house for some good ole “girl time” anymore without them trying to politely push their side-hustle rap on you. Now we have morphed into “girls night in, sip and shop, and cocktails and body wraps.” Your social media feeds are now flooded with product pitches and incentives for “joining the team.” Women are still trying to “have it all,” and these various MLM companies are seen as a way to achieve just that. According to Direct Selling Association, a whopping $7.5 billion is spent at these home parties each year. But this model isn’t for everyone. In fact, a small percentage of the sellers actually make money from these MLM companies. But Hey! That could be YOU!

Maybe you want to invest in real-estate? Becoming a landlord is a great way to bring in some continuous extra cash. You don’t always have to do it alone. It is an online resource that allows you to invest in commercial real-estate for as little as $5,000, giving you access to listings that wouldn’t otherwise be on your radar.

Creating an online resource is another wonderful way to generate more income. For example, if your a dog trainer, perhaps you could create a program on “How To Train Your Dog.” The majority of the work is done upfront on your end, creating the content; but once it is up and running, it takes minimal time to maintain.
